What Makes Our Holy Days So Special?

In our Western Judeo-Christian tradition, this week is both Passover and Holy Week. It is the week we celebrate our passage from slavery to freedom. It’s the week we celebrate our passage from death to new life. But why this week? Why is this week so special? Historically speaking, we don’t know the exact time of year that the Exodus happened.  Nor do we know exactly when Jesus’ death and resurrection took place. We do know that both religious traditions focused on the Spring time of the year as a time for these celebrations because Spring is the time of the first fruits of the harvest, a time when new life comes again from the Earth. And, for that reason, both the Jewish and the Christian traditions are actually in harmony with the Pagan traditions as well. But still: Why this week? Of all weeks, why is this the week, historically speaking, that we celebrate our Soul’s immortal freedom to live in harmony with all the fruits of the Earth? Simply put:  This week is different from all other weeks because we have collectively decided that it is. It is our shared intention that makes it so.  And with continued focused intention, over time, this week materializes in our consciousness as a holy week… It’s not unlike when the Hopi Tribe gathers for a rain dance with the intention to make it rain. And, after they dance, it rains. So it is for us: we have historically intended this week to be a special week of holiness and it is.  For no other reason than we have intended it...
